Our car is gone!

Hahaha, not literally gone....anyway, so its Sunday and this is going to be our last weekend in San Diego. We've managed to sell about half our stuff at 'give away prices' plus the trucking company picked up our car today. So we are praying it gets to Des Moines in one piece on Thur the 2nd which is the same day we fly to Des Moines! Great isn't it. So we're gonna have to get a rental for the remaining 4 days. I am so excited!!! Church was great and I know they are gonna miss us bad. Ashley is recovers from her brief fever episodes, did her braids today and looks terrific!

My hospital is gonna assist me with moving expenses, so that takes a lot of stress out of us. I spoke to my bro in Amsterdam who told me he just got a job too. Isn't that owesome!
By the way, if you wanna know more about medical physics, you can go to
http://www.radonc.jhmi.edu/html/medical_physics.html or
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Medical_physics or
http://www.aapm.org/medical_physicist/default.asp

By the way, our car was actually stolen 2 months ago and we were lucky and found it intact after 2 weeks (minus stereo and speakers anyway)

Medical Physics! What's it anyway?

Well, my guess is that 99% of you guys have never heard of such a job before and are wondering if even exists.
Well, that's because just 1% of university graduates are crazy enough to get a Masters in Physics (My MS degree is in Physics but my area of specialty is Medical Physics.)
Very briefly, Medical Physicists are a group highly specialized highly skilled allied health care professionals who primarily work at CANCER treatment centers.
One method of treating cancer is by using radiation (x-rays) hence the name Radiation Therapy. A medical physicist is tasked with ensuring that the amount of radiation prescribed by the physician is accurately delivered to the cancer patient. I will be working with 4 other physicists at a huge cancer center and our job will be to oversee the correctness and supervise the whole process of radiation therapy. More on this next time!

TRIVIA
Medical Physicists are the only non physician health care professionals that are certified by the same board that certifies Physicians!

Preps

So its just 8 days before we relocate to Des Moines. Still searching for that perfect apartment. I've been damn busy out here in San Diego. Trying to get rid of most of stuff and also commuting btw Vista and San Diego on a daily basis (6o mins drive). Ash has not been feeling to well for 2 days now. Made her some garri and okro soup which she loved.
We've decided to ship our 94 Honda Accord (still in pretty good shape) so I dropped it off today to get a new paint job. That's half a grand off my savings right there!

I just got my Dream Job!!!!

Yes I did, despite the very tough economic times. I just found my dream job: A Medical Physicist. Many people wont know who a Medical Physicist is or what
they do. Well, this is simply because the field of Medical Physics is pretty new and is not one of your traditional science careers (engineers etc).
Anyway, I'll be working at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines!
Yes that's in IA. I visited Des Moines three weeks ago and loved it. It's a lot nicer than most people would make you believe. Anyway, I'll blog more on the city and the what my job really is next time.
Thanks for reading and hope you come back soon for the details
